Remy Ma Re-Sparks Feud With Nicki Minaj on 'Wake Me Up' by Complex News

Remy Ma has accomplished a whole lot since being released from a lengthy prison sentence in 2014. She's had a major hit single with Fat Joe to go along with a collaborative album—and, of course, a very-well-publicized beef with Nicki Minaj. Now, Remy has two more notches on her belt: a new song with Lil' Kim, and a new partnership with Columbia Records. The Kim collaboration "Wake Me Up" finds the Queen Bee jumping in for a hook and bridge in a style reminiscent of her 1990s heyday. "[W]hen I called her, I told her, I’m like, 'Listen, I want you on this record, but I just want you to be Kim. I want you to be the girl that was squatting down in a leopard thong, be that Kim,'" Remy told Zane Lowe. While much of the song could be read as standard boasting, Remy appears, as anticipated (and despite Kim's denials), to take a direct shot at Nicki in the second verse. "I'll say it to your face, don't gotta relay that shit," she raps. "If Nic' cold and kid, man, O.J. that bitch." The reference is somewhat confusing, as O.J. Simpson's murdered ex-wife was Nicole Brown Simpson, not famed actress Nicole Kidman. Regardless, it appears that Remy's decade-plus beef with Minaj, which erupted into public view with the release of the diss track "ShETHER" this past February, shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
