Watch Kodak Black Try to Freestyle for 12 Straight Minutes by Complex News

Black Thought’s 10-minute freestyle with Funkmaster Flex set the bar for every rapper this month who wanted to attempt to go off-the-top for a duration of time. This year, guys like Tee Grizzley, Big K.R.I.T., Vic Mensa, Lloyd Banks, Nick Grant, and many others have shown they got the bars and breath control to go without stopping. Kodak Black falls in the same category as Lil Uzi Vert and Lil Yachty who aren’t known for their freestyling, but more for their melodic, turn-up anthems. Kodak has shared some stream-of-conscious rhymes before, opening up to his fans with his “Jail House Blues Freestyle” while he was behind bars last year. But this marks the first time we’re watching Kodak experiment with lines live. In the 12-minute video above, titled “ProjectBaby Freestyle,” Kodak is posted up in a parking lot. A car is playing a beat from its sound system and Kodak is catching a vibe, freestyling some unprepared rhymes. Yes, some of these are bad and don’t make any sense. There are a few moments where Kodak does drop a few gems though—like when he starts rapping about coffee. It’s just all part of the creative process. Would you want to see Kodak up at Hot 97 or Sway? Watch the clip and see if he has what it takes.
