"Staxx On Deck" (Interview with @KrisStaxx)

As a young artist that has seen the hardships of young men struggling to make it past 21 Kris Staxx stands amongst the lucky. The music he records and the topics discussed appeals to the young and old as well as people of all colors and nations. His music is a representation of life so when people listen to what he raps about an image in their mind becomes present.

A noticeable man with dreads and tattoos, Kris Staxx remains adamant about breaking into the music industry. Many may already know Kris Staxx who is one fourth of the rap group The Teknitionz based in California. The groups’ most recent mix-tape dubbed “The Tek-Over” is a display of musical talents from all four individuals and an underlining example of growth and dedication to music. In March, The Teknitionz participated in a talent search that was hosted by Slip-N-Slide Records which garnered attention and exposure for the hip hop group. Despite not signing a record contract the group continued to make music and perform while their name began to buzz in the streets and on west coast mix-tapes. Kris Staxx and members of The Teknitionz did not slow down on production and began working on their debut album. Countless nights recording for Kris Staxx became routine while he began working on his solo project titled “Staxx On Deck Volume 1” which will be released during Summer 09.

With his solo project well underway Kris Staxx clearly states that he is fully involved with The Teknitionz and remains a prominent member of the group. Being successful for Kris Staxx means pursuing his individual aspirations and establishing a solid foundation. The idea of being able to hold down his own fort as an artist and being recognized as simply Kris Staxx “the aspiring” artist is a major factor in his grind. Kris Staxx asserts that the young men who make up the group The Teknitionz are also the same men who he refers to as his brothers for life.

Don’t be surprised to find out that this California native is not the biggest fan of West Coast rap although he does respect artist coming out of the West Coast. As one of many artists to come out of California Kris Staxx admits that there are roadblocks such as standing out and making a significant impression on his fans. His main goal is to get commercial success but maintain quality music while bringing attention to California’s “Bay Area”. As Kris Staxx creates music for all he hopes to be welcomed into the homes of all people who appreciates music.

Yeah I can dig that! And how long have you been going in with this rappin bruh?

Man i've Been Rapping for About 6 years now ... yea i know thats not that long i ddnt always know this is what i wanted to do i started off playing w/ the music rapping over instrumentals as a hobby. This hobby quickly turned into a passion that ultimately has turned into my career.

Its cool pimp 1 to 20 years deep, we celebrate it all over here. Who have you worked with independent or industry?

I've worked W/ A lot of artists out here in the Bay Area which is where Im from to name a few that you all might know" Nio Tha Gift" " Young L & Lil Uno" ( from The Pack) & Lil Rue , Just a few artists that ive had the pleasure to work with.

That's the bizness. How do you describe your style?

If i had to describe my style in 1 word it would be " Epic" , simple as that im about to change the game .

So what do you think separates you from other artist in this industry?

My style is what makes me stand out , My image, the things i do, anything that i rap about I've either done it or I plan to doit in the Near future. I dont rap about fictitious things everything i stand for are in the words i spit. Even if i wasnt to be rich off the Rap game, i'd still be the freshest (dude) u ever met. Simple as that. The Music doesnt make me, I MAKE THE MUSIC.

Where does the competition stand with you? Do you feel like you have any?

Honestly i do catch myself in competition, BUT NEVER W/ THE NEXT ARTIST. ALWAYS W/ MYSELF. @ THE END OF THE DAY IM THE PERSON THAT WILL MAKE "ME" OR BREAK "ME ". But theres definitely a bar that has been set ..in my area there are way more bad artists than good lol. every1 in the bay wants to be rapper. So when (i am) making good music, (I) stands out and shines on all this bull being created.

Yes definitely i'd Like to thank ALL THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE SUPPORTED ME & MY DREAM FROM DAY 1 S/O TO ALL MY FANS & SUPPORTERS. BUT TO BE MORE SPECIFIC S/ TO MY GROUP THE TEKNITIONZ ...IS WHERE MY MUSICAL ABILITY WAS TAKEN TO THE NEXT LEVEL. MY GIRL " BEE" SHE'S HAD MY BACK SINCE DAY 1 EVERY REAL NIGGA NEEDS A REAL BITCH THAT (mess) W/YOU FOR THE RIGHT REASONS NOT CUZ U RAP OR ARE IN THE INDUSTRY.
